Anacampseros rufescens / 20 seeds

Anacampseros rufescens is a beautiful succulent which looks so gorgeous because its leaves are colorful. These low-growing plants are native to South Africa. They start out small but grow in clusters and eventually spread out in clumping mats by producing offsets. The colors of leaves range from pink and purple to green and yellow-green. Top side is dark green, while the underside is deep purple. The green makes way to red when happily stressed. The plant features thin white hairs. Wherever you’ll keep Anacampseros rufescens, it’s going to add a unique charm to the surrounding.

Anacampseros rufescens needs bright but indirect sun. it also tolerates some amount of shade, but doesn’t do as well in shade.

You should water your Anacampseros rufescens in spring and summer. First you’ve to water profusely, then allow the soil to completely dry out before watering again. In the winter, you’ve to water very sparingly. Overwatering can cause root rot. As such, this plant prefers dry conditions, so, misting should be avoided.

Anacampseros rufescens is not cold-hardy. Hence if you live in a zone that gets colder than 20-degree F (-7-degree C), it’s advisable to plant this succulent in a container so you can bring it indoors during cold. If you cannot bring it indoors, you can use other ways to protect your plant from the cold weather or frost, such as frost cloth or mini greenhouses.

Although Anacampseros rufescens is attractive to a variety of insects, if it is in a good condition and especially planted in a mineral potting mix, with good exposure and ventilation, it should be pest-free. However, you should watch for any significant decline in health. Common pests include red spiders, scales and mealybugs. Plus, rot can be a problem if the plant is not properly watered (overwatered) or aired.
